Veedubbin' in France
part I

Europe is not apart the VW world, there are a lot of events that are worth a sight. Among the most well known we can talk about Bad Camberg (Pre-53 cars, every four years in Germany), the bug Jam (all kinds and drag racing VW, in Santapod, England), Chateau d'Oex (in Switzerland mountains) and in France the SuperVW national (superVW is the name of the french magazine organizing the meeting).

For all of you who don't live in France, this article will show what are vw tendancies in France.
The VW move is about 15 years old around here and is animated by several magazines (the oldest and best one is SuperVW magazine in my opinion) and a bunch of little clubs in every towns or villages, the priority for their members is to have fun driving, restoring, racing or modifying air-cooled VW.
The vw is imported in France since 1949, and ten years ago it was pretty easy to find old VW (mainly from the '60's) for very little money but as the interest grew, the cars are getting rares and expensive, but just as everywhere as far as I know.
The tendancies represented in an event like the SVWnat are very diverse, 50% are daily drivers in various conditions, all cars are accepted in the fairground, and better than that the road leading to the show is closed to any other kind of vehicle, non-vw owners are taken there by busses. What a fun to see only VW on a little road going through the pines.
