Meeting the second type!
Part 2
by Guif from the VBM
In fact the fellows were invited to  chose another model, more adapted to their wills of leisure. It wasn't created first by VW, but by a german firm called Westfalia.
They bought combi, took their head in their hands, and made some kind of dolly house with the laborious vehicle, they designed very cleverly furnitures, arranged in the interior, a fridge, a bed for two adults, thousand people lived their holidays in such a car, free to move, free to stop at a speed who was perfect to enjoy great landscapes (50 mph).
Most of the american buyers bought them at home in US then took the plane to pick it up in Germany, and travel through Europe with their new bus before sending it home at the end of holidays.
Another great member of the bus family is the Microbus de Luxe, the first year of production is 1955, it met an incredible success, the perfect vehicle for an hotel resort or a large family, nine persons were able to take place in it, tasting the german VW comfort.

This car is brighter than any other, all the shell is covered of glass. In my opinion pre 62 models are the more interesting (aren't they Brock?)with their typical curved windows, abandoned in 1962 to enlarge the rear door.
These models are often named depending of their windows number, including the winshields, as this, pre-62 models are called 23 windows, also named Samba bus (cool name!), after it became the 21 window bus.
The model shown above is a rare model, it has all the features of the 23 windows deLuxe, but without the 8 little windows in the roof, mainly built for american market, 15 windows bus are now pretty rares.
