Here is a basic lineup of the vehicles VW produces in South Africa. VW also imports models like the Cabrio, Sharan, Caravelle, and Passat. I think you'll find these cars pretty interesting.

Lets start with the Golfs. The first one is the CitiGolf. Its basically an A2 chassis golf. The A2 chassis is a favorite with VW enthusiasts for its superb handling characteristics. The Citigolf comes with a 1.3 to a 1.6 litre motor. Notice the Vanagon style taillights and custom 14" rims.

Then there is the Golf. Based on the A3 chassis it comes with a 1.4 to the 2.8 litre VR6 motor. The golf has a few more amenities than the CitiGolf and is aimed at a higher price margin.

Next is the Jetta. Available with the 2.8 VR6 powerplant or 1.6, 1.8, or the 2.0 litre motors. Options include, leather and everything usual to the USA bound cars. Based on the A3 chassis. South Africa claims its the safest of the cars offered.

Now turn your head to see the VW Polo. Available in two models. The Playa is a sporty hatchback aimed towards those people who want a bigger car than a Microcar but still want some of the things offered in larger hatchbacks, like performance. The Playa is offered with a 1.4 or 1.6 litre motor so it's sure to move.

The Polo Classic is the same as the Playa but with the addition of a trunk for those not interested in a hatchback. Notice the styling cues from the Passat. Both Polos ride on VW's A1 Chassis. Availible with a 1.4, 1.6, or 1.8 litre motor Note that the New Beetle Concept 1 was based on this platform before VW decided to base it on the Golf's A3 chassis.

Want a Caddy? No VW didn't buy Cadillac. It's a Rabbit pickup as we know it in the states. Gone is the diesel motor, In trade for a 1.6 litre motor. Notice the cool rollbar. (remember the Subaru Brat?)

Last but not least is the Bus. Better known as the Vanagon in the states. Gone is the old boxer motor. In place is a 2.3 or a 2.6 litre Audi 5 cylinder motor. These vans are highly sought after in the states for their quad round headlights and custom rims. Equipped similar to the late model Vanagons of  the early 90's. Notice the rear quarter windows are sliders.
