Europe's biggest carmaker is slowing production to mid- 1990's levels. Current extra shifts
and uing the shortest possible workweek to brace for an expected decline in european sales.
Workers are back on traditional work schedules, without overtime and will work 28.8 hour weeks, down
from 35.

after its plants had been working at one-year capacity to meet demand.
VWOA is at it again ! ( VW.NET )
Volkswagen of America is at it again, this time with the company
Virtual Works Inc. Virtual Works registered the domain name some two years ago,
vw.net. VWoA is claiming that Virtual Works is cybersquatting and disrespecting VWoA's trademark
rights. A 90 Day ON-HOLD status is currently on the VW.NET domain name. Virtual Works Inc. CEO
has said that VWoA lawyers never gave them a time to respond before they inacted the
Network Solutions DOMAIN NAME DISPUTE POLICY. Virtual Works was quoted as saying: " We are going to get
squashed by a german giant". Virtual Works domain VW.NET is also their domain server. This
means that if VWoA does acquire the domain name Virtual Works may go out of business, because
their primary server U.VW.NET is where all of Virtual Works clients host their webpages. Virtual Works was also
quoted as saying " Our primary server is u.vw.net, these changes cannot be made overnight".

Mans Beloved '64 bug crunched in crane crash
TORRANCE, (AP)- Don O'Neill's beloved '64 volkswagen has become a squashed bug, a week before it was
to be passed onto his grandson.
A 40 foot crane crashed through the garage roof Friday morning and flattened it. " What can I do ? " said Don O'Neill, owner
of the family heirloom. As he surveyed the damage, " I could cry, I
suppose ". A crane operator
for Steve Bubalo Construction of Fontana was dragging a sewer cleaning device through a line on
Van Ness Avenue when the crane slowly overturned. The crane tore through the branches of two
trees, koncked down power and cable television and ripped a 4-8 foot hole in the garage roof.
The crane operator was unhurt. O'Neill bought the shiny red Volkswagen new in 1964. Later, his two
sons drove it. It was to be a gift for his 17 year old grandson, Adam Bridges, who was told
he could drive it when he entered his senior year of high school.

'66 Beetle Burned Up
CONCORD, CA - Refused to give his name.
It was about 8:00 PM, when he heard a loud boom from out side. He went out
side to investigate. He didn't see a thing. He went inside and to tell his
wife to get the kids out of the house just in case there was a problem. When
he got them out, he went back in. At this point he saw that there was smoke
coming out of the vents in the house. He went along side of the garage, and
saw there was smoke coming out of the garage. He jumped the fence to
get out (6 foot in a single leap) At this point the garage opened half way
(scary) just enough to see the fire on the left side of the garage. His
brand new blazer was on the left, and his 66 beetle was on the right. He
stepped back 20 feet, And then BOOM! the Blazer blew up, he said the car
lifted about 2 feet off the ground. Then the beetle blew, the front of the
car lifted about 3 feet high. He sat with his two daughters, and wife and
watched in terror as his house and cars burned in a two hundred foot high
flame. Only the garage burned, but the whole house has smoke damage.
There is a good ending to this story. Nobody was hurt. The insurance company
was there within the hour. The firemen retrieved most of there pictures. And
by the next day, they were in a nice hotel, and by the end of the week, they
were in a very nice condo ( swimming pool, saunas) all covered by insurance.
The estimate was well over 100,000. But by the time they are finished the
house will be perfect, even the stuff that needed to be done before the
fire.
They only gave him 3,500 for the beetle. It was
worth at least 10,000. The cause of the fire was not disclosed.
