Dear Mr. Willis:
 
    We represent Volkswagen of America, Inc. ("VwoA"), a wholly-owned subsidiary and exclusive U.S. importer of cars manufactured by Volkswagen AG. VWoA is charged with protecting trademarks associated with those cars and has asked us to contact you.
 
    VWoA recently reviewed your website at members.aol.com/Nemrac47/ramva.htm and learned that you have designed a logo, which incorporates the VW logo, for use by the newsgroup, rec.autos.makers.vw.aircooled ("RAMVA"). The VW logo is a registered trademark belonging to Volkswagen and may not be used without Volkswagen's express permission. Your use of this trademark infringes upon Volkswagen's trademark rights and violates the Lanham Act, 15 U.S.C. SS 1114, 1125.
 
    We request that upon receipt of this letter you cease and desist infringement of the VW logo and any other Volkswagen trademarks; remove the infringing logo from your website; and refrain from encouraging others to use the infringing logo.
